Can We Control The Weather?

What’s your favorite season? Do you enjoy staying in, snuggling under the blankets? Or do you enjoy diving in a pool on a beautiful summer day, would you manipulate the weather to your liking?

But can we control the weather?

Attempting to manipulate the weather (weather modification) has been dated back to the 60’s. From theories of building massive rain towers to alleviate drought to using anti-aircraft guns loaded with silver iodide to keep rain away from the Beijing Olympics, according to weather.com. Cloud seeding is the most common weather modification used to increase rain or snow. But how far have studies come since then?

Although, weather modification in warfare has been banned by the United Nations, it has been rumored that the CIA has been looking into weather modification as a form of warfare, according to the Washington’s Blog. According to Professor Alan Robock the intelligence services asked him about the possibility of weaponising the weather as a major report on geo-engineering.

And According to counterporch.org, the U.S. National Academies of Science released a report on  geo-engineering that calls for increased investment in this field in order to counter climate change.

For hurricane modification a new anti-hurricane method is being used. This procedure is done by pumping sea water into the wind at the bottom of the tropical cyclone for the reduction of destructive force.

Because of major disasters such as Hurricane Katrina, concerns regarding climate change has increased peoples desires to stop severe weather and multiple theories for manipulating the hurricanes have been suggested.

However, years of climate intervention has caused severe damage to the Earth’s life support system due to destructive and desperate measures to control it, according to  geoengineeringwatch.org. The planet’s climate system is unraveling by the day. Since the 19th century Hail cannons (a shock wave generator claimed to disrupt the formation of hailstones in the atmosphere) have been used in an attempt to ward off hail. There is no reliable evidence to confirm their effectiveness.

Geo-engineering watch also reported on how the radio frequencies were killing living organisms. Thus asking the question “If radio frequency transmissions can sicken and kill trees, what is it doing to us?”

Whether manipulating the weather is in fact possible, there are signs and evidence that it could be deemed deadly and harmful, even to us.

If weather modification is in fact possible, would you take a job as a medoriologoist to only manipulate severe weather such as tornadoes or manipulate it just for a sunny day? Or not tamper with mother nature at all?
